Geometry Syllabus

Course Description: Geometry is the study of points, lines, planes, angles, surfaces and solids and the properties pertaining to each. Students will do extensive work with right triangles, parallel and perpendicular lines, quadrilaterals, circles and mathematical reasoning. Further, we will study trigonometry, congruency, similarity, and volume, area and surface area of certain polygons. In addition, students will study coordinate Geometry and investigate coordinate transformations.  Topics covered in Geometry are consistent with 9-12 Mathematics standards/core and advanced Geometry strand.   • Pencil

  • Erasers

  • Notebook

  • Red Pen

  • Folders

  • Scientific calculator

When can I get help?

  • 8:00-8:25 am   (Before school, except on MONDAYS)

  • 3:30-3:50 pm   (After School)

  • Call the school to make other arrangements (528-6236 ext: 1135)

What happens if I miss class?

  • It is the responsibility of the student to get ALL makeup work, i.e. get missed notes and assignments and to make arrangements to make up quizzes and tests.  If the student knows he or she will miss class, it is the responsibility of the student to make up the work (quiz/tests) before he or she is absent.  PLEASE CHECK MY HOMEWORK PAGE ON MY WEB SITE.  You may be able to print off a copy of the notes.

How will my grade be determined?

  • Daily assignments:  20%
  • Quizzes/Tests:  80% 

What else do I NEED to know?

  • Retake option is available for all tests.  See Mrs. Skinner about this.

  • Peer tutoring is available.  PLEASE inquire if interested.  This may become mandatory if adequate grades/effort are not maintained.
